Hat Yai, a major city in Songkhla Province, is currently grappling with its worst flood in 15 years, leaving many areas submerged and residents waiting desperately for rescue. Local authorities in Songkhla are mobilizing all available resources to conduct emergency rescues, including setting up temporary shelters to accommodate those displaced by the floodwaters. The situation remains critical as more neighborhoods are being affected, and teams are working around the clock to ensure affected people get the help they need.
Critical Flood Situation in Hat Yai as of November 22, 2025
On November 22, 2025, the flood situation in Hat Yai District of Songkhla Province reached a critical point, with the municipal area and several rural communities completely submerged. Many residents are trapped in their homes, in urgent need of food supplies and safe evacuation to higher ground. In response, local authorities have taken several key measures: opening temporary shelters, establishing sand filter points to provide clean water, and preparing emergency vehicle parking areas to handle potential further spread of the flood.
Details of Emergency Measures by Local Authorities
- Hat Yai City Hall: The city hall has opened 5 temporary shelters, which include Eng Siang Samakkhi (Hat Yai First Municipal School), Sopha Phitthaya Kunanusorn (Third Municipal School), Wat Khlong Rian (Fourth Municipal School), Hat Yai Home (Second Municipal School), and Hat Yai Southern Cross International School. Additionally, 21 emergency vehicle parking areas have been prepared, along with 2 sand filter points located behind Jiranakorn Central Stadium and at the Public Rice Field Cultivation Center of Hat Yai City Hall.
- Ban Phru City Hall: Starting from November 22, a canteen has been set up at the Ban Phru City Hall Fire Building to provide meals for flood victims. The hall has also opened 4 temporary shelters: Ban Phru City Hall, Phisit Jaree Building, Thep Chumnum Temple, and Ban Phru Municipal Kindergarten. Five sand filter points have been established at locations including Ban Phru Fire Station, the sports field of Phisit Jaree Building, and Ban Po Mo Central Square.
- Khuan Lang City Hall: The team here is distributing boxed meals to local residents affected by the flood. Two temporary shelters have been opened at the Disaster Prevention Building (2nd floor) of Khuan Lang City Hall and Nern Khum Thong Sports Field. One sand filter point is operational at the Khuan Lang Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Building, and three emergency vehicle parking areas are ready for use.
- Khlong Hae City Hall: This authority is distributing household medicine packs to flood victims, along with preparing 5 emergency vehicle parking areas. Seven comprehensive shelters have been opened, including the 42nd Army Region, Khlong Toei Community Multi-Purpose Building, Khlong Hae City Hall, the International Convention Center celebrating Queen Sirikit’s 60th Birthday, Ban Rai Satthatham Temple, Ban Thung Don Bodhi Tree Square Multi-Purpose Building, and Khlong Hwa Community Multi-Purpose Building. A total of 37 sand filter points are available across 8 communities, including at Khlong Hae City Hall and the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division Building.

The city hall has set up a canteen to prepare food for flood victims and deployed 2 flat boats to support personnel transfer and relief work in flooded areas. Three public assistance centers are operational: Thung Thad Sao Community Hospital (covering Groups 1,2,10), Thung Thad Sao Municipal Kindergarten (covering Groups3,4,6), and Ban Phru Municipal Center (covering parts of Groups5,6 and Group7). A sand filter point is also available at Thung Thad Sao City Hall.
